The starting salary is between $76,960-$91,520 per year depending
on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. Add-on pay up to an
additional $2.97 per hour is available for relevant credits that
are beyond a Bachelor's Degree. This position is in pay schedule
and range 81/02. A 24 month probationary period is required.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), Winnebago Mental
Health Institute --(WMHI), Waterwood School, is recruiting for an
Education Director. Waterwood School provides education services
for K-12 patients in a caring and supporting school environment
that promotes wellness and the learning progress. The Education
Director is part of the Career Executive program.
WMHI is a psychiatric hospital providing quality mental health
services to children, adolescents, and adults. The facility has a
beautiful campus located on Lake Winnebago with adjacent walking
paths by the lake for employees to use during break periods. WMHI
is located in the center of the Fox River Valley, one of the
fastest developing areas of Wisconsin. Environment is ideal for

This position works Monday-Friday, 7:45 am - 4:30 pm, 12 months per
State of Wisconsin benefits include nearly 4 weeks of vacation, 9

about. This position provides direct supervision of education
staff, librarian, program assistant staff, and ancillary personnel.
Special Notes : All applicants who may be appointed to this
position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background
check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may
be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB screen prior to
their start date.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Administrator by the
Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (WDPI)
- Note: Eligible is defined as having completed the education and
hours requirement and are in the process of obtaining licensure.
This will be verified prior to appointment to this position.
- Experience in a leadership or supervisory role (e.g. leading
projects or programs, providing training or mentorship to other
staff, reviewing or assigning work, etc.)
- Experience teaching children, adolescents, or adults
- Training or experience developing cultural competence and
creating an equitable and inclusive work environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills Well-qualified
applicants will also have:
- Director of Special Education and Pupil Service licensure by
- Experience working in a psychiatric or secure setting
- Experience providing educational services to students with
mental health issues, behavioral issues or at risk youth
- Experience teaching or administering General Education
Development (GED)/High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) and/or
Adult Basic Education (ABE) programs
