Working Title: Associate Vice Chancellor for Inclusive Excellence and Chief Diversity Officer Official Title: Associate Vice Chancellor Employment Class: Limited FTE: 1.0 Compensation: $124,800-$129,500 Terms of Employment: Limited Appointment Position Summary: The University of Wisconsin (UW) Oshkosh seeks a dynamic, visionary, and collaborative leader to serve as its Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Inclusive Excellence (IE) and Chief Diversity Officer (CDO). The successful candidate will have a proven record of leading equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts resulting in transformational change across a University setting. UW Oshkosh values diversity as a key to innovation, creativity, and progress. The AVC for IE and CDO will develop and implement equitable and inclusive strategies to advance UW Oshkosh s commitment to inclusive excellence as outlined in its mission and strategic plan. Reporting to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the AVC for IE and CDO provides a vision for the University on equity, diversity, and inclusion and implements it through broad-based leadership and collaboration. The AVC for IE and CDO advises the Chancellor, Provost, Deans and senior leadership in the integration of equitable and inclusive policies, practices and services across the University; collaborates with the offices of Human Resources and Division of Student Affairs to make inclusive excellence central to all levels of the University; and inspires and motivates stakeholders including staff, faculty, and students across all three UW Oshkosh campuses located in Fond du lac, Fox Cities, and Oshkosh to reach equity, diversity, and inclusivity goals. In this highly central and visible role, the AVC for IE and CDO will serve on the Chancellor s Cabinet. The AVC for IE and CDO will provide leadership for and administration of the Division of Academic Support of Inclusive Excellence (ASIE), which includes American Indian Services, Latina/o/x/ Hispanic Student Services, the LGBTQ+ Resource Center, the McNair Scholars Program, the Men of Color Initiative, Student Achievement Services (Multicultural Education Center, Multicultural Retention Program, and Pre-College), Student Support Services and Student Support Services STEM, and the Women's Center. The successful candidate will have a broad vision that defines equity, diversity, and inclusivity in ways that support and advance the work of these offices, programs, and centers. The AVC for IE and CDO will have experience working with varied programs, centers, and/or initiatives that grow student leaders; address issues of cissexism, classism, heterosexism, racism, sexism, and other issues of social justice; and create a climate of equity and inclusion. This individual ensures the effectiveness of the campus strategic plan for equity, diversity, and inclusion through development of strategic and communication plans; administration of centers, programs, and trainings dedicated to increasing the retention and success of underrepresented students and other students historically marginalized from the University; education of students, staff, and faculty on best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion; assessment of programs, initiatives, and campus climate; and supervision of employees within ASIE. The AVC for IE and CDO will also develop and manage budgets, develop budget proposals, and apply for grants and external program support to advance initiatives and programs which will increase equity, diversity, and inclusion on campus. UW Oshkosh was founded as a teaching college in 1871. It is situated on the ancestral lands of the Menominee and Ho-Chunk Nations. It has three campus locations attracting students from across the Fox Valley region, the greater state of Wisconsin, and surrounding states. Responsibilities 50% Leadership and Administration a. Collaborate with leadership to create, implement, and monitor programs designed to promote an inclusive climate for students, faculty, and staff across the three campuses; b. Measurably improve equity, diversity, and inclusion outcomes and targets through collaboration around and coordination and support of diversity-related efforts; c. Provide leadership for and administration of the Division of the Academic Support of Inclusive Excellence (ASIE) as it works to grow student leaders; address issues of cissexism, classism, heterosexism, racism, and sexism; and create a climate of equity and inclusion; d. Represent ASIE on campus and with external constituencies and promote UW Oshkosh s commitment to a climate of equity, diversity, and inclusion; e. Gather, research, and analyze data for use in decision-making with respect to campus equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives for review by the Chancellor and Cabinet; f. Develop measurable goals and outcomes related to UW Oshkosh equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts across the three campuses; g. Assist Human Resources, Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, and Academic Affairs in assessing potential barriers to and developing strategies focused on recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce and student body; h. Create strong partnerships to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion goals and objectives; i. Respond to bias-motivated incidents on campus and coordinate campus response and student support efforts; j. Actively participate in standing and ad hoc committees and meetings, including the Chancellor s Administrative Staff meeting; the Provost Administrative Staff meeting; the UW System Chief Diversity Officers meeting; Leadership Council; Workplace Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Council; Strategic Enrollment Management committee; Student Success and Retention committee; and k. Complete other duties assigned by the Provost. 30% Division Operations a. Manage operational activities of ASIE, including budget development and oversight; b. Evaluate and assess programs and write reports on the findings; c. Write and administer grants and conduct other fundraising efforts in cooperation with the University foundations; d. Coordinate the design and delivery of training initiatives related to inclusive excellence in all appropriate units within ASIE. 20% Supervision of Division Staff a. Provide supervision and evaluation of ASIE staff. Qualifications Required: Administrative experience in higher education; Terminal degree; High-level supervisory experience; Experience implementing and sustaining inclusive excellence initiatives a projects in a university setting; Experience developing and managing a budget; Experience developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with diverse constituencies; Excellent communication skills. Preferred: Demonstrated knowledge of national trends, organizational environments, a best practices related to equity, diversity, inclusivity, undergraduate retention, academic support services, faculty and staff diversity, and campus climate issues; Scholarship and evidence of impact in a University setting; Demonstrated success implementing pre-college, first-year experience, LGBTQ+, gender diversity, women s, and multicultural programs and services, TRIO, and/or other related programs; and Experience developing and managing a budget for an academic unit or project.
