DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESParticipates in planning the use of facilities, equipment, and personnel to meet current and future manufacturing requirements, including department budgets and guidelines, plant layout, improvements, and capital expenditure programs.Develops and maintains an effective organization through selection, training, development, compensation, and motivation of assigned personnel. Conducts reviews on a timely basis. Prepared accurate updates for the production schedule and notifies other members of production meeting of any issues and concerns.Work with other departments in the development of product specifications.Develops capacity plans to state manpower requirements of or meeting the production commitment.Responsible for hiring/terminations, discipline, performance improvement, and coaching supervisor and employees. Reviews the manufacturing requirements with Engineering and provides input on hours and feasibility of the project.Participates in on-site meetings with customers when required.Establishes and develops lead personnel for all manufacturing departments to manage day-to-day activities.Use motivating techniques and delegates responsibilities and appropriate authority to subordinate supervisory and staff personnel to achieve maximum efficiency through proper use of skills, man-hours, machines, and equipment.Play an instrumental role in the development of short and long-term goals for the organization.Continual monitoring of industry trends and conveyance of such to the remainder of the management staff.Plan manufacturing strategies that enable the company to accept and select avenues to participate in; i.e. outsourcing, technology upgrades, and training.Maintain a professional work area (entire manufacturing area) which is clean and organized. Responsible for ensuring that the facility and building are kept and well maintained. Work with facility manager to ensure this.Develops policies, company safety programs, and procedures throughout manufacturing and ensures consistent implementation of these policies and procedures. Issues warnings for violations, and administers approved disciplinary measures when necessary.Works with 3rd party OSHA consultant and HR to conduct safety training for shop associates.Participates in management meetings to assist in planning and to make recommendations on matters related to manufacturing and maintenance operations.Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations issued by OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. Prepares and submits required documents and reports.Develops procedures for improving process; maximizing resource utilization; develop and maintain appropriate resource and material schedules.Other duties and responsibilities as required. Participate and assist in continuous improvement activities related, but not limited, to ergonomics, ISO, Safety, 5S, and lean manufacturing. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and four to five years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Knowledge and experience with scheduling within manufacturing environmentERP experience requiredExperience with developing employees/training plans, hiring/terminations/ discipline, performance improvement plans, and coaching/mentoring.
