Shop Coordinator/Scheduler

Job Description:

Position summary: This position manages daily resource schedule by allocating field and shop labor to meet the needs of commercial paint division projects. Coordinates with staff to assist with logistics operations and warehousing.

Essential Duties and responsibilities:

  • Schedules daily labor needs for shop and field.
  • Maintains record of employee skills to assist with proper resource allocation when scheduling.
  • Coordinates with driver personnel and shop purchasing.
  • Coordinates all labor, material and quality aspects of incoming/outgoing projects with paint foreman.
  • Coordinates the issuing of specialty safety equipment and site-specific safety trainings.
  • Maintains general shop upkeep and organization through procedural enforcement of safety, storage and operations policies.
  • Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system. This includes material management of paints and solvents, including proper disposal.
  • Maintains warehouse staff job results by coaching, counseling and planning daily activities.
  • Develops and maintains standard operating procedures as they pertain to resource allocation.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Performs other job duties as related and assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent Required
  • 5+ years of experience working in a shop environment Preferred
  • Previous experience scheduling manpower and/or materials, and resources Strongly Preferred
  • Previous inventory control experience Preferred
  • Ability to work professionally with others Required
  • Ability to manage people and processes effectively to produce desired outcomes Required
  • Knowledge of best safety practices as it relates to creating and maintaining a safe work environment. Required
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel Preferred
  • Ability to create, run and analyze reports Required
  • Ability to use sound judgement and reasoning to make good decisions Required
  • Excellent attention to detail Required
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task Required
  • Outstanding organizational skills Preferred
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills Required
