Job Description:

AriensCo is looking to add a Staff Designer to their team in Brillion, WI.

The Day to Day...

  • Develops and supplies technical information of high complexity such as 3D models, 2D detailed drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to communicate design intent to other groups as required. These groups will include Design Engineering, Tooling, Sourcing, Testing, Analysis, Manufacturing Engineering, Technical Publications, and Industrial Design.

  • Documents and presents technical information during design reviews.

  • Develops and evaluates components and assemblies considering design for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA).

  • Will present innovation projects to platform managers, marketing managers, executives, etc.

  • Performs higher level calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned.

  • Helps to coordinate complex and multi-disciplined engineering projects from design to implementation.

  • Works with Sourcing, Manufacturing Engineering and platform managers to help prepare component part and tooling cost estimates.

  • Investigates problems and requirements of assigned projects and develops solutions in line with established project objectives.

  • Develops technology concepts into prototypes and test pieces to determine viability.

  • Prepares prototype work by developing 3D models and 2D detailed drawings, ordering manufactured and purchased materials and writing Model Shop job requests.

  • Supports and leads multiple large projects concurrently.

  • May write test requests and help develop test plans to support NPD and Innovation projects

  • Will lead sub-groups of designers in developing technology in defined sub-systems that support NPD and Innovation activities.

  • Leads technical design reviews related to all assigned projects.

  • Creates and processes Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) from start to the point of design release for production.

  • Exercises discretion as to personal work details.

  • Expected to mentor other designers on specific design specialties in which he/she is considered an expert.

  • Delegates tasks to other designers.

  • Readily identifies and applies technical tools/disciplines.

  • May develop and document standard processes or process improvements for the design area.

  • Manages a design specialty area.

  • May have project-related or permanent direct reports.

  • This is not necessarily a complete list of all responsibilities, duties, skills, experience or requirements associated with the job.

The Qualifications...

  • Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) such as Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent from an accredited institution with the focus being relevant to the job requirements of the technical team he/she is assigned to (example: Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) and 7 or more years of experience required along with a demonstrated ability to lead and mentor.
