will be responsible for procurring products, parts, supplies and
services from both predetermined and newly selected sources in the
most economically advantageous manner for the company, weighing
both vendor reliability and dependability.*Major
Responsibilities/Activities** Negotiate to optimize vendor
capabilities in areas of price, quality and lead time.* Establish
purchase agreements for production parts to be replenished through
various Lean procurement systems.* Schedule, buy and expedite
assigned production parts, supplies and services.* Provide guidance
and support through the selection of new items and suppliers as the
need arises during the product development cycle.* During the new
product development cycle, actively support the Research &
Development Department or Product Support Engineering by
participating in solidifying supplier's quotes and supply
agreements for new items intended for use in production.*
Coordinate ordering and expediting of prototype components for
analysis in the Alpha and Beta phases of product development.*
Solicit quotations and supply agreements for new items intended for
use in production.* Coordinate supplier visits, ISO audits and
evaluations in assigned commodity groups for all potential new
Class 1 and 2 suppliers, and Class 3 suppliers when appropriate.*
Provide information required for completion of purchased parts ERP
system setup.* Actively participate in new product activity as it
relates to the department.* Meet regularly with salespeople and
visit suppliers when appropriate.* Evaluate sourcing opportunities
and cost savings in best cost countries.* Work with Dover sourcing
teams to move to new alliance suppliers.* Complete initial and
subsequent supplier evaluation reports.* Assure quality and on-time
delivery of parts, products and services purchased.* Expedite rush
orders and emergency orders* Communicate regularly with vendors to
stay abreast of latest developments at the vendors effecting
business relationships, technology, cost or quality.* Keep abreast
of pricing and availability trends and recommend timely actions to
management to ensure an uninterrupted flow of materials to meet
production requirements.* Work with accounting on PO and invoice
discrepancies.* Coordinate product obsolescence activities with
suppliers and production.* Process special equipment requests
approved by engineering.* Process engineering change requests
released from engineering.* Backup Logistics duties when and as
required* Perpetually maintain COO and HTSUS compliance
updates*Education Requirements**** A minimum of an Associate degree
in Materials Management or related field, or appropriate materials
management experience in lieu of a degree, is required.* A
Bachelors degree in Operations Management or Materials Management
is preferred.*Experience Requirements** A minimum of 5 years of
professional purchasing experience, preferably with a high volume
manufacturing or electro-mechanical assembly company, is required.*
NAP or APICS certification (or evidence of progress toward
certification) is preferred.* Computer proficiency in a Windows
environment is required, preferably with Microsoft Word, Excel,
Access, and Outlook.* Experience using SyteLine or related
manufacturing software is preferred.* Must be able to work with a
high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.* Must possess
strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.*
Well-developed professional telephone etiquette is required.*
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be
considered.*Quality Responsibilities: ** Initiate action to prevent
the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process
and quality systems.* Identify and record any problems relating to
the product, process and quality system.* Initiate, recommend or
provide solutions through designated channels.* Control further
processing, delivery or installation of non-conforming product
until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been
corrected.*Physical Demands: ***While performing the duties of this
job, the employee will be exposed to normal office conditions and
usual office equipment like telephone, personal computer, reports
and files. The employee will also be exposed to normal conditions
of a manufacturing facility. The employee will be regularly
required to sit and talk or hear. The employee will be required to
stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools,
or controls and climb or balance and reach with hands and arms.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close
vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to
adjust focus. The employee will frequently lift, carry or otherwise
move and position objects weighing up to 35 pounds, and
