Job Description:
The Medication Aide administers medication to the residents in a
safe and efficient manner, EXCEPT for the administration of
intramuscular, intradermal, intravenous and medications given via
nasogastric or gastric tube, and performs assigned treatments. He
or she will document, chart, and report relevant observations as
established by the guidelines, regulations, and facility policies
and procedures. He or she will also help residents with activities
of daily living, such as hygiene, toileting, feeding, moving safely
to activities or functions, and caring for the resident's
environment, including laundry and housekeeping. He or she must be
sensitive to the needs and desires of each resident and make an
attempt to improve and enrich their lives.Primary Duties &
Responsibilities:Adheres to and conveys a philosophy that supports
the dignity, privacy, independence, choice, and individuality of
residentsAdhere to the Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act (HIPPA) privacy policies and proceduresMaintain
confidentiality of all information pertaining to clients, families
and employeesCompletes necessary care documentation (written and or
electronic) timely and accuratelyHelps residents with all personal
care functions as neededMaintain a professional appearance at all
timesDispenses medications under the direction of a licensed nurse
according to established proceduresSupervises the Residents
medications under the direction of the service plan according to
established procedures and regulationsEnsures that required
documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and
standardsRedirection, monitoring and observation that are integral
part of a personal care planRedirection and intervention for
behavior, including observation and monitoringIncidental household
services that are an integral part of a personal care plan in the
above itemsResponsible for observing clients, reporting these
observations and documenting observations and care
performedQualifications & Physical Requirements:Demonstrate the
ability to make appropriate professional judgmentsAbility to handle
multiple tasksAble to and provide covered care services according
to the clients care plan, respond appropriately to clients needs
and reports changes in the clients condition to the licensed
supervising Resident Care DirectorStrong organizational and
problem-solving skillsOccasional use of hands, wrists and fingers
and lifting or moving up to 75 lbs may be requiredMovements such as
stooping, crouching, bending, kneeling, climbing and reaching are
occasionally requiredThis position requires spending a majority of
the workday standing and walking, with occasional sittingNoise
and/or level of distractions in the work environment is
moderateSpecific vision abilities required by this position include
close vision, distance vision and peripheral visionAbility to
provide covered PCA services according to the persons PCA Care
PlanAbility to operate a motorized vehicle and have reliable
transportation for work in the communityEducation & Experience:High
school diploma or GED preferredMust be at least 18 years oldAt
least six months experience in an assisted living community
preferredUnited States Citizenship or evidence of a valid Alien
Work PermitCertified as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in this
stateCertified as Registered Medication Aide in this stateThis job
