Job Title: Full-time Wastewater/Water Operator. The City of Nekoosa, Wisconsin is pleased to announce the recruitment and selection process for a Wastewater/Water Operator.
Salary: $28.92 - $31.47 depending on qualificationsBenefit Package: Health Insurance with HSA, Dental & Optical Insurance, Accruing Sick Leave Bank, Participation in Wisconsin Retirement Fund, 10.5 Holidays, Vacation schedule, Eligibility in Deferred Compensation PlanTypical working days/hours: Monday – Friday, 7 AM – 3:00 PM
Position Summary: An entry level position assisting in the performance of both the Nekoosa wastewater and water plants, water distribution system and wastewater collection system supporting both the lead water and wastewater operators.


  • Inspect, operate, maintain, and repair chemical feed systems, valves and piping, installing meters, perform sample collection and laboratory analysis for process control and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor and provide general oversight into the sanitary and water system.
  • Maintains records regarding plant daily plant performance and utilizes computers to complete reports and documentation.
  • Reports for duty in emergency situations and work on a rotational weekend and holiday schedule.

    Position Requirements:The new operator will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of the city water and wastewater utility. The city will provide on-the-job training and pay for classes to become certified in WDNR water and wastewater subclasses. General wastewater certification and water certification in groundwater (G) and distribution (D) within 2 years. An energetic person with a mechanical aptitude is desired. You must have a valid Wisconsin driver's License and the ability to obtain a CDL class B with air brakes within one year. Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Promotes and maintains positive public relations with the community and can work together with fellow employees in a team environment.
