Imagine yourself, part of the nation's 10th largest health care
system. As Construction Project Manager, you will act as the
company representative for all day-to-day operations of
construction and remodeling projects in the Fox Valley Area. Works
with the site administrators, regional directors, and managers
while coordinating the activities of consultants, architects, and
contractors. Defines concepts for estimating purposes, produce
plans for construction and overseeing construction activities to
ensure minimal operating impact during the course of construction
activities, which are in accordance with plans, specifications,
codes, and regulations.
- Responsible for capital projects (remodeling and new
construction), keeps the Regional Director appraised of all new
projects and leads scheduling of consultants and contractors.
Ensures that Aurora standards are maintained during construction
and renovation. Maintains project expenditures within approved
- Determines the optimal methods and materials to accomplish
projects. Submits recommendations for review to the Regional
Director, based on economy and feasibility of bids. Responsible for
the review and approval of all purchase orders and invoices
relating to the construction process and completing within
- Determines the nature and requirements of capital projects
(remodeling and new construction) after consultation with the
client department and vendors; proposes and performs the necessary
functions to accomplish the project in a manner within budgets and
- Works with corporate, regional, and local management,
architects, and engineers to ensure designs include all pertinent
information. Ensures that "as built" drawings are furnished by
contractors and/or architect upon project completion.
- Researches technical engineering data for hospital departments
and advises on structural changes, additions, or modifications to
the building. Maintains a harmonious working relationship with
regional and site personnel to assure an effective pursuit of the
projects. Arranges the installation of equipment with companies and
contractors at the convenience of the department. Coordinates with
appropriate departments the commissioning of new or remodeled
- Writes or reviews job specifications for contractors to quote.
Reviews contractors' bids and awards jobs to the appropriate
contractor. Reviews all AFEs and cost estimates or obtains written
quotes from outside contractors for the installation of equipment.
Ensures contractors are educated on Infection Control and Life
Safety requirements and that all necessary safety reports and other
documents are maintained.
- Obtains required governmental permits and approvals, ensures
city, state, and federal code requirements are met. Maintains
active liaison with governmental agencies and individuals to ensure
optimum compliance with codes and regulations.
- Responsible for managing construction activities to enable
expeditious completion of a project with minimal disruption to
patient care. This includes coordinating the installation of x-ray,
laboratory, diagnostic, and most other medical equipment, and the
interruption of mechanical, electrical, and life safety

What it Will Take:
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
Typically requires 5 years of experience in Construction Management
at a large facility.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Must be competent in use of Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Strong background in general construction and mechanical and
electrical design and operation.
Must have experience in project management, from conception to

with all phases of building design.
Must be highly motivated, self-directed, and well organized. Must
be able to work in a team or group activity.
Excellent diplomacy skills to deal with system, regional and site
personnel, medical staff, and outside contractors.
